President Tsai Ing-wen led a delegation on a nine-day, eight-night trip of "steadfast diplomacy based on building mutually beneficial relationships." During the course of the trip, the president attended the inauguration ceremony for the Panama Canal Expansion, and also delivered an address before the National Congress of Paraguay.

The delegation made a transit stop in Miami on the outbound leg, and in Los Angeles on the return journey. In addition to holding bilateral talks with seven presidents and vice presidents from Taiwan's diplomatic allies, President Tsai also exchanged ideas with over 20 US Congress members and political leaders.
